Directions from the north:
The most interesting route is to leave the M6 motorway at junction 40 near Penrith and take the A66 towards Keswick. At the next roundabout follow the signs for the A592 which you stay on for about 40 minutes. (If you see the sign for Aira Force on the right and you have time, there is a beautiful walk up to the waterfall). After coming down the Troutbeck Valley you reach the A591 at a small roundabout. Turn left here. After about half a mile take a right turn in front of the ‘Rockside’ guest house, this takes you into the village centre. You join the one-way system and once you have passed the Co-op on your left take the first turning left into Broad Street. Go to the end of Broad Street and turn right into Woodland Road. Then take the first right into Holly Road. Ivy Bank is the 4th house on the left.
Directions from the south:
Leave the M6 at junction 36, turn left and follow the A591 to Windermere – this takes about 25 minutes. When you reach the village turn left in front of the National Westminster Bank. Follow the one-way system downhill and once you have passed the Co-op on your left take the first turning left into Broad Street. Go to the end of Broad Street and turn right into Woodland Road. Then take the first right into Holly Road. Ivy Bank is the 4th house on the left.
Directions from the station:
When you get off the train at Windermere you can take a taxi (it costs about £3) or if you prefer to walk (10 minutes), come out from the station and go left past Booths supermarket. You then go on past the Tourist Information Centre (you may wish to look in here). Continue downhill from the TIC following the one-way traffic. Turn left at the ‘Queens’ pub and follow the one-way traffic along Crescent Road passing the Co-op supermarket on your left. Take the first left turn after the Co-op into Broad Street. When you have gone half way along Broad Street there is an entrance to a car park on the right. Walk into the car park and go left, walk out of the other side of the car park into Holly Road and Ivy Bank is the first house to the left of the Beaumont Hotel.
